The
Early Years
Pastor Glenn Matthews was born in the local Bankstown hospital
in October, 1963, and was raised in the nearby suburb of Georges
Hall. Glenn's parents were members of Condell Park Bible Church,
and he became part of the life of the church from an early age.
The church has remained his spiritual home to this day.
Glenn attended the local primary school before graduating from
Condell Park High School in 1979. He was employed as a motor mechanic
in a local Holden dealership for the next five years, at which point
he was called of the Lord into training for the ministry.
The Call to the Ministry
For the next eleven years Glenn attended Bible College part-time
to prepare for the ministry. His part-time employment during this
time covered everything from work in a Christian bookshop, to car
upholstery and paint sales. It was also during this period, in January
1986, that Glenn and his wife-to-be, Erin, were married. Finally,
in 1995, Glenn graduated from Condell Park Bible College with an
Advanced Diploma of Theology.
Glenn had been appointed as the Church Assistant Pastor in 1989
and, following his graduation, was ordained as Associate Pastor
in 1997.
Glenn's scope of ministry within the church is broad, not just
including preaching the Word, but labouring in the areas of youth
and family ministries, and serving as a Bible College faculty member.
Glenn's desire for the church is that faithfulness to God be demonstrated
in: exalting the Saviour, preaching the Word, edifying the saints,
evangelising the world.
Other Interests
Beyond the pulpit Glenn enjoys his sport, primarily rugby league
and cricket. He also relishes time spent enjoying good music, reading
and family holidays.
Wife & Family
Glenn's wife, Erin, has taught in the Church Christian School
for many years, with an emphasis on music over the past decade.
In recent years Erin has take up leadership of the church music
ministry, and is also the associate leader of Women's Ministries.
Erin was raised in Coffs Harbour, on the New South Wales mid-north
coast, trusting Christ as Saviour in 1980. In order to attend Teachers'
College, Erin moved to Sydney three years later where she met Glenn.
They were married in 1986 and now have two teenage children, Luke
and Olivia.
