Glenn Matthews - Senior Pastor

Glenn is the embodiment of a local boy, born down the road at Bankstown Hospital and raised in Georges Hall. His grandparents were founding members of our church and his parents were married in this church, so he has attended Condell Park Bible Church from his earliest days. Glenn initially trained as a motor mechanic, however, sensing the leading of the Lord to prepare for ministry, he commenced training at Bible College.

Early on in his 11 years of study, Glenn married Erin, who had moved to Sydney from Coffs Harbour to attend Bible & Teachers’ College. In 1989, Glenn was appointed as Assistant Pastor, and following the completion of his studies, was ordained as Associate Pastor in 1997 and then installed as Senior Pastor in August 2016.

Erin has taught for many years in our Christian School, has served in various children’s ministries, plays a key role in the church’s music programme and is leader of the Women’s Ministries.

Glenn and Erin have two adult children, Luke and Olivia, who interestingly both have American spouses. Luke and his wife Sarah reside in north Sydney where Luke works for a Christian camping organisation as an outdoor educator. They have been blessed with three children - Jaxen, Chloe and Lilliana (in heaven). Olivia trained in graphic design in the USA where she married Luke Hollis in May 2017. They reside in Michigan, USA where Luke ministers as a Pastor. Luke and Olivia have been blessed with one child - Judah.

Glenn and Erin enjoy music, books, travel, cricket and rugby league (Glenn only!) and spending time with family.

Brendan Fischer - Assistant Pastor

Pastor Brendan Fischer is the country boy of the pastoral team. He was born in 1991 in the town of Grafton, New South Wales. It was here he was raised and attended school.

At six years of age, Brendan knew that he was a sinner. He was challenged about his need for a Saviour and understood that Jesus had died in his place to provide the forgiveness he needed. He trusted Jesus Christ as His personal Saviour on the 14th of September 1997.

Brendan left school and completed an apprenticeship as a carpenter within the family business. Sensing the Lord's call to pastoral ministry, Brendan enrolled in the Clarence Valley Baptist Bible College.

Following his graduation in 2014, Brendan moved to Lismore for a 12-month Pastoral Traineeship under Pastor Peter Mitchell. He was then appointed as the Assistant Pastor of Lismore Bible Church. During this time Brendan married Emma Perry. Together they served the Lord in Lismore for four years while Brendan was still building part-time. It was during this time that Brendan was ordained as a gospel minister.

Brendan was called to the role of Assistant Pastor at Condell Park Bible Church in 2019. He desires that the saints would be edified, transformed into the image of Jesus Christ and equipped to evangelise this world.

Outside of ministry, Brendan loves sport. He is passionate about football, rugby league and cricket, and also loves to spend time with his family in the outdoors.

Brendan's wife, Emma, was raised in Coffs Harbour and also attended Clarence Valley Baptist Bible College. Emma has a real burden for youth and for comforting and counselling those who are struggling and hurting. Brendan and Emma have four children, Elizabeth, Harry, Gabriella and Archie.

Ron Christie - Associate Pastor

Ron was born and raised in the local Bankstown area, and during his primary-age years responded by faith to the saving Gospel of Jesus Christ. At the completion of his high school study, Ron headed to country NSW to undertake teacher training and commence his teaching career.

In 1973, Ron married Margaret, who was also raised in the local area. A year later he began full-time study, sensing God’s call to full-time ministry. Following the completion of his studies at Spurgeon Baptist Bible Theological Institute, doors were opened for both pastoral and teaching opportunities, before accepting the call to serve as Associate Pastor at Condell Park in 1989.

In addition to pastoral responsibilities, Ron has played a vital role in the ministries of both our Bible College and Christian School for a number of decades. He has a particular passion for fostering the educational and spiritual growth of young people with special needs, heading up the School's Special Education program for many years. Margaret's sewing ministry has been a blessing throughout the years, from coordinating the School's uniform needs, through to fashioning attire for weddings and many other special occasions.

As well as cherishing time spent with family, Ron and Margaret also share a special fondness for gardening. Another of their shared interests is birthdays as they just happen to share one. Fortunately, there is a year's difference, so they at least get to celebrate milestones on consecutive years!

Brian Wenham - Pastor Emeritus

Brian was originally a country boy but moved with his family to Sydney during his teens. He trained as a civil engineer and worked for the Sydney Water Board, assisting with the design of Warragamba Dam. In 1958, on the final day of a Christian camp, Brian was convicted by God's Word of his need for personal salvation and came to faith in Christ. Alongside him, Fleur Mellor, a young lady from his church, felt the same conviction of the Holy Spirit. They both accepted the Lord on the same day and were married less than a year later.

Due to his family background in the denomination, Brian studied and then entered the ministry in the Methodist Church. However, due to growing apostasy and conviction of the need for separation, Brian tendered his resignation in 1970.

In early 1973, Brian was called to the pastoral ministry of Condell Park Bible Church. His ministry over the years has been wide-ranging, from child evangelism to Bible College lecturing and overseas ministry (especially in India). Over the decades Fleur's ministry has also been fruitful, primarily within the women's ministry and musical realms.

On the 1st January 2016, Brian and Fleur began six months long service leave, after which they officially retired from full-time ministry. Our 78th Church Anniversary weekend was used as an opportunity to rejoice in their ministry and to reflect upon 43 years of faithful service at Condell Park.

In their retirement, they now have time and opportunity to do……whatever they want. Not surprisingly they have found new opportunities to serve the Lord.
